The Franciscan Monastery of St Anthony at Drid is located on the island of Čiovo, within the town of Trogir in Split-Dalmatia County. A peaceful monastery building with a centuries-old garden, it is of interest to those looking for sacral heritage outside the busy town centres.
The monastery was founded at the beginning of the 15th century by Friar Nikola Trogiranin. When, because of the Turkish threat in 1500, the miraculous image of Our Lady of Mercy was moved from the church at Drid near Marina to Čiovo, it also carried with it an Angevin votive crown. Within the monastery wall, on the northern side, stands a single-nave church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption; its sanctuary and sacristy are built above a spacious cave. The monastery was built in terraces and is elongated in an east–west direction. The central corridor on the ground floor has the church on one side, and the dining room and cellar on the other. To the east extends a garden with a promenade, and on the upper floor, along the cross-shaped dormitory, are the monastery rooms.
The monastery is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3878.
