Given that the water in Lake Vrana has an elevated salinity, it is home to fish characteristic of both fresh and salt water. Of the fish that live in fresh water, the lake is a natural habitat only for the eel and the mudminnow, while the other species were introduced into the lake from some other environment (e.g. carp, Prussian carp, rudd, catfish, pike and mosquitofish).
