Baterija Fortification, Milna

On Cape Zaglav, at the western end of the island of Brač, stands the Baterija fortification near Milna. The view stretches over the channel towards the island of Šolta, and the position explains why this spot was important.

Here, shipping on the sea approach to Split was controlled. The fortification was built in 1806, under French rule, to monitor the passage through the inner sea between the central Dalmatian islands. This position provided a view of all ships sailing through the channel. It consists of single-storey buildings with simple openings and a crenellated wall that encloses the whole complex.

The fortification is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4328.
