Villa Rustica, Banjevci

At the Grudine site, near the villages of Banjevci and Kašić Banjevački, in the municipality of Stankovci in Zadar County, are the remains of an ancient villa rustica. It is interesting because a kilometer to the east of it, at the Dražica - Pudarica site, a Mithraeum, a shrine of the god Mithras, once stood.

Centuries of cultivation of the land and road building have damaged the site. Among the numerous remains, two parts of a cult relief from the Mithraeum and three impost stones with an incised cross stand out.

A protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1402. The relief fragments and the imposts with a cross testify to a place where different beliefs crossed many centuries ago.
