Fortress at Gradina pod Osridkom, Banjevci

About eight and a half kilometres east of Pakoštane, above the eastern shore of Lake Vrana, at an altitude of 86 metres, lie the remains of the fortress at Gradina pod Osridkom. It belongs to the settlement of Banjevci in the municipality of Stankovci in Zadar County, and is of interest to those exploring the landscape around the lake.

The fortress is located on the plateau of a rise that overlooks the pass leading from Lake Vrana towards the hinterland, so it controlled an important route. It arose in the 15th century and went through several building phases, and it was in use until the 16th century. What remains are archaeological traces of walls on the plateau, which speak of its strategic position between the lake and the interior.

The remains of the fortress are a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6731.
