Tatinica bay is located west of Kozarica, on the northern coast of the island of Mljet in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Under the sea, at a depth of 37 to 44 meters, rests a late antique ship, attractive to divers and to everyone who follows the history of navigation along the eastern Adriatic.
The cargo consisted of Byzantine globular amphorae, and five iron anchors were also found beside them. Most of the amphorae belong to the LRA13 type from the 7th century. Objects from the ship's galley were also found. Knowledge of the site is based exclusively on a survey of the surface; parts of the hull have not been observed. The ship belongs to the numerous underwater sites along the northern side of Mljet and the Mljet Channel, which show how dense ancient traffic was on this part of the sailing route along the eastern Adriatic coast.
The wreck is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7190.
Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence; coordinates: DGU (centre of the settlement).
