Roč is a fortified settlement in the area of the Town of Buzet, in Istria County, on the elongated ridge of a hill above the main east-west thoroughfare through northern Istria. A visitor here encounters a medieval small town with walls and towers.
The urban structure arose during the Middle Ages, and the original matrix suffered badly in the Second World War. In the historic core the Romanesque chapel of St. Roch, the chapel of the confraternity of St. Anthony Abbot and the parish church of St. Bartholomew stand out, and beside them several houses with Renaissance and Baroque features. By the Vela town gate stands the town loggia from the 18th century. The walls with towers, as well as the Vela and Mala gates, were built in the 15th century on the site of ramparts demolished in 1412.
The ensemble is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2720.
