In the village of Vrsi, not far from Nin in Zadar County, stands the small Romanesque church of St. James. It is interesting to travelers exploring the North Dalmatian coast because traces of an older settlement can also be made out beside it.

The church is single-nave, with a prominent semicircular apse facing east and covered with a semi-dome. On the facade is a portal with an arched top. It is built of roughly dressed stone laid in mortar, and has a gable roof of channel tiles. In its vicinity traces of older construction can be seen, most likely of a Roman economic complex. According to its stylistic features it is dated to the 12th century, the Romanesque period.

The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1208.

Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence; coordinates: DGU (centre of the settlement).
