Below the Franciscan monastery in Živogošće, in the municipality of Podgora in Split-Dalmatia County, right on the beach, there is a rock with a late antique inscription carved into it. The place is unusual because a verse from antiquity can still be read today in the stone beside the sea.
On the rock are carved the verses of two odes, epigrams, in honor of a source of drinking water called Pokrivenica, which once sprang up here and after a short course flowed into the sea. At the site there probably stood a rustic villa owned by a certain Licianus, who is mentioned with his wife Pelagia in the inscription. Some local writers link him with the emperor Valerius Licinianus. The inscription dates from the 4th century.
The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4885.
