West of the entrance to Cavtat harbor, at a depth of 30 to 32 meters, lie the remains of a shipwreck from the modern era. Cavtat is in the municipality of Konavle, in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and the site is interesting to divers who are drawn to smaller warships from the age of sail.
On the sandy bottom, over an area of about 20 by 30 meters, there are six iron cannons, two anchors, a group of cannonballs, rifles and other objects from a smaller warship. It is probably a wreck from the beginning of the 19th century, from the time of the Napoleonic wars. In the same area there are also fragments of at least two different amphorae, which shows that the wider area served as an anchorage in front of the harbor of ancient Epidaurum. Cavtat harbor, sheltered by the islets of Mrkan, Bobara and Supetar, retained its significance in later periods too.
The remains are a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7187.
