Church of St Demetrius with Stećci, Gabrili

The Church of St Demetrius is located in Gabrili in Konavle, near the route of an ancient road and aqueduct. It is single-nave, with a rectangular apse on the outside and a semicircular one on the inside, to which a porch has been added. The walls, both outside and inside, are articulated with lesenes, and the interior is divided into three bays and covered with a barrel vault. The western façade has newer openings and ends in a bell gable.

It dates from the 11th century and is a rare surviving example of pre-Romanesque architecture in Konavle. Around it extends a medieval cemetery with 23 preserved stećci from the 14th and 15th centuries, decorated, among other things, with scenes of hunting and the kolo dance.

The church with the stećci cemetery is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-928.
