Ancient Shipwreck near Krapanj

Between the island of Oblik and the islet of Mala Krbela, about one and a half nautical miles southwest of Krapanj near Šibenik, lies an ancient shipwreck. It lies at a depth of 18 meters on a flat, grass-covered seabed, and is interesting to divers and to everyone interested in ancient navigation of the Adriatic.

The site was destroyed as early as 1920. There was once a large deposit of Greco-Italic amphorae there, and the wreck is dated to the period from the second to the first century BC. Beneath the sand, remains of the ship's structure and a smaller part of the cargo are still preserved.

The wreck is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-239.
