Lergova gradina is located near Slivnica, in the municipality of Posedarje in Zadar County. It attracts visitors with a huge stone rampart that protected the settlement in the Iron Age and that can still be clearly recognized in the landscape today.
The hillfort is about 280 meters long and about 160 meters wide. It was encircled by a rampart several meters thick, built in the megalithic style. The face of the wall is best seen on the eastern side, where it is partly built of large regularly dressed blocks laid without mortar. Today the rampart is in ruins, and dry-stone walls that enclose private plots inside the hillfort have been built on top of it. On the surface there is a good deal of Iron Age and Roman pottery, from which its origin is dated. On the northwestern side the remains of several dry-stone structures can be seen, with walls about one meter thick. The site is dated from the year 1000 to the year 1 BC.
The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4091.
Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence; coordinates: DGU (centre of the settlement).
