Nezakcij is one of the most significant archaeological sites in Istria, near Valtura in the municipality of Ližnjan-Lisignano. It gives visitors the chance to see an Iron Age hillfort, a Roman municipium and early Christian basilicas in one place.
Centuries are layered on this hill: people lived here continuously from the Iron Age to the beginning of the 7th century. The local Histrian settlement was the military and political center of all Istria until the Romans conquered it in 177. From that time a defensive ring of ramparts in concentric circles has survived, and inside it archaeologists have studied a rich cemetery of the Iron Age population. The Roman municipium left many public and cult buildings and the twin basilicas of the 5th century. The site's time span begins in the 10th century BC.
The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RRI-342.
