The Church of St Catherine, popularly Kata, stands in the cemetery in Donji Zemunik, in Zadar County. It is interesting to a visitor for its Romanesque portal and the Glagolitic inscription in front of the entrance.
It is a single-nave building with an elongated apse, which arose in the 17th century on the site of an older medieval church. The inscription in the lunette of the Romanesque portal on the west side facade bears witness to the building of the church in 1194, during the reign of the Hungarian-Croatian king Béla III. The portal was moved from the main facade of the medieval church, part of which can be seen in the west side facade of the present building. During the 19th century the church was extended twice. On the facade is the main portal, and in front of it a slab with a Glagolitic inscription is built in. The oldest part dates from the 12th century.
The church is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3020.
