About two nautical miles southwest of the Porer lighthouse, off Premantura in the municipality of Medulin in Istria County, the wreck of the Austro-Hungarian torpedo boat Flamingo lies on the seabed. The destination is interesting to divers and lovers of maritime history.

Flamingo is the only surviving ship of the first generation of torpedo boats of the Sperber class. It was launched in 1885 in Pula and sank on 23 August 1914 when it struck a mine. Its armament consisted of two torpedoes. The ship was 40 metres long, 4.8 metres wide and had a draught of two metres. The wreck is thus a valuable witness to the Austro-Hungarian navy at the start of the First World War.

The wreck is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-24.

Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence.
