The Novoselec Vineyards lie in Zagreb, north of the villages of Novoselec and Oporovec, which historical documents mention as early as the 13th century. For a walker it is interesting as a preserved winegrowing landscape near the capital, without intrusive building.
The klijeti (vineyard cottages) are lined up on both sides of the path, but in scale and arrangement they do not overpower the vineyards and the greenery around them. The old klijeti stand out, sometimes on stone foundations, with the characteristic corner joint of planks called the Croatian vuglić. The symbol of identity and a visual landmark here is the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which by its appearance speaks of the long continuity of the location, as available documentation also confirms. The chapel and the space around it contain all the components of the historic setting.
The area is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2168.
