Cvjetno naselje (Flower Settlement) is in Zagreb, east of Cvjetna Road, beside the river Sava. For a visitor it is interesting as a rare example of a carefully planned low-rise housing estate from the period between the two world wars.
The plan was drawn up in 1939 by the architect Vlado Antolić, and it was conceived as a settlement of family houses for city clerks. The houses are positioned so that on the south side they have a larger sunlit garden with a vegetable plot and lawn, while the front garden is decorated with identical hedges. Four types of buildings were devised, and their volumes and design are defined and typologically uniform. Roughly half of the settlement, about 40 houses, was built in 1939 and 1940. The primary school in the settlement was designed by the architect Zlatko Neumann in 1957.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1543.
