In the west of the island of Krk, in the town of Krk in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, lies the Poljica ethnozone. It includes the settlements of Poljica, Bajčići, Žgaljići, Nenadići and Brusići, and is interesting to visitors who look for the traditional way of life in the interior of the island.

The settlements are of the open type and consist of residential and farm complexes of original form. Vernacular architecture is recognised here by stone construction, outside staircases, massive chimneys and hearths inside the houses, and in places by plant roofing on the farm buildings. The zone dates from the 15th century and is a valuable example of a preserved rural space on the island.

The zone is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RRI-0315-1972.

Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence.
