Turčić is a small settlement on the island of Krk, in the municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. For anyone who wants to see what a traditional village on a Kvarner island looked like, an ensemble is preserved here in which the relationship of house, field and chapel is nicely legible.
The settlement took shape as several smaller groups of houses around a chapel, which over time merged into rows. The Chapel of St Roch, built in 1781, stands beside the road through the village. In the surroundings, farm buildings, threshing floors and stables have been preserved, together with dry-stone boundaries in the agricultural landscape. The houses are mostly single- and two-storey buildings with a rectangular plan, simple facades, and gabled roofs of channel tiles. Associated with the houses are outside staircases and vaulted terraces called skodi. On the ground floor is the konoba, upstairs the living space, and in the middle of the house there was an open hearth, the komin, beside which a bread oven sometimes stood. Openings are framed with stone doorposts, and the windows are small, with shutters or louvres.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7295.
