Belgrad is a small village in the Municipality of Vinodol, near Grižane, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It is interesting to a visitor because it is tied to the Vinodol Law Code and to the modest but skilful stonework architecture of the region.
It is assumed that the village already existed in the 13th century, when the Vinodol Law Code was drawn up, and that, like other settlements of the Vinodol principality, it had its own rights and duties. It arose near the Grižane hillfort. Written data about it reach back to the beginning of the 19th century, when it is mentioned as an established settlement. Its importance is attested by the cemetery with the 16th-century Church of Our Lady of the Snows, also used by neighbouring villages, even though they are more developed today. Rural architecture shows itself in a series of enclosed house plots and in houses with a skoda, and the whole village bears witness to the masonry and stonecutting skill of the people of Vinodol.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5214.
