In Stari Grad near Pag are the remains of the Church of St Martin, which belongs to Zadar County. The walls that remain are not large, but they show what a Romanesque little church on the island of Pag looked like.
The church is first mentioned in 1300 in a short chronicle, and by 1579 it was already in ruins. The walls are preserved to differing extents: along the east side wall they are about a metre high, while in the area of the apse and the right wall they reach three metres. The apse is 2.50 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep. Deposits of tufa indicate that the church had a vault. From the apse to the end of the visible longitudinal walls is about 8 metres, the width is about 4.45 metres, and the walls are about 60 cm thick. The method of construction, courses of relatively finely worked stone, is typical of the Romanesque period, and it was built in the 12th to 13th century.
The remains are a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4536.
