In the Kaštela field, at a place called Mirje in Kaštel Stari, the remains of a building can be seen whose origin is still debated. The place attracts curious visitors because it shows how archaeology sometimes leaves questions open.
Since the beginnings of Croatian historical scholarship it was written that the church and monastery of St Peter of Klobučac were here. The Bihać society carried out investigations here three times. Today it is considered more likely that this is a Roman villa rustica, of which there are many in the Kaštela field. On the ground a wall of irregular construction stands out, of dressed stone with a good deal of binder, in places decorated with inserts of ancient bricks. It is about ten metres long and about two metres high. The ground is covered with fragments of ancient pottery. The site is linked with the period from the 2nd to the 4th century.
The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4316.
