In the Nišćanski gaj area near the village of Nisko, in the municipality of Klis in Split-Dalmatia County, lie the Rajčica Wells. On the grey karst ground they stand out as a green landmark, so they are interesting to all who are interested in the traditional life of this area.
They consist of ten wells enclosed by dry-stone walls and one larger communal pond for livestock. Each is enclosed by a single row of stone and has steps built into the wall, by which one descends to the water. Beside the wells stand troughs for watering livestock. The oldest record of them is on the Austrian cadastral map of Nisko from 1829. In the village it was known which well on Rajčica belonged to which neighbourhood, that is, which family. The wells are an exceptional hydrological phenomenon and have high environmental value.
The wells are a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6962.
