Dobrinj is a settlement in the interior of the northeastern part of the island of Krk, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, connected with the surrounding villages and the Klimno cove. Here visitors can walk through an old fortified centre that for centuries watched over the surrounding villages.
Dobrinj is one of the four medieval castles (kaštel) of Krk, that is, the fortified centre of an agrarian region with some fifteen villages. It developed on the ridge of a hill, and the parish Church of St Stephen is mentioned as early as 1100. The oldest part is Dolinje selo, where parallel rows of houses form an outer belt that served as a defensive wall. The centre is the Placa square. Among the more important buildings stand out the parish church, the Duke's Court and the Church of the Holy Trinity (St Anthony) with the former town cemetery, called Simitir. The period of origin is placed in the 12th century.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2682.
