Archaeological Site Zagorski Put, Dujmovača

The Zagorski Put archaeological site lies in the northeastern part of Split, in the city district of Dujmovača. Unlike the well-known sights of Split, what is revealed here is the everyday, economic life of the ancient surroundings of the city.

Rescue excavations in 2011 in Zagorski Put street brought significant ancient and medieval remains. Among the movable and immovable finds, most are those originating from the ancient periods of this part of the Salonitan ager, that is, the land around Salona. The site is interpreted as a country-estate and farming complex, a villa rustica, on the Split peninsula. It is especially important for understanding the layout of settlements and roads of the Salonitan ager and of the medieval Split field. In time it spans the period from the 2nd to the 15th century.

The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7017.
