Sveti Ivan is a small settlement on the island of Krk, in the municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It takes its name from the chapel at its northern end. It offers guests the picture of a traditional island village in which the methods of building and the layout of the whole area have been preserved.
The houses are strung along a path that runs through the fields, and the paths and yards are enclosed by dry-stone walls, in places very massive. Many houses are joined in rows and have stables and threshing floors beside them. They are mostly single- and two-storey buildings with a rectangular plan, simple facades and gabled roofs of channel tiles. Special features are the skodi, outside stone staircases and vaulted terraces. On the ground floor is the konoba (cellar), and living takes place upstairs. The doors are of solid wood, the windows narrow, two-leaved, with shutters or louvres. On the balatura there is often a šterna (cistern). In the house the hearth was called the komin, and in places it is separated off by a tornica. The Chapel of St John the Baptist was built in 1710.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7294.
