On the northern edge of a broad field near Ražanac, in Zadar County, lies an archaeological site with the remains of two early Christian churches. For lovers of antiquities it is an opportunity to see the plan of a true late antique place of worship.
Investigations showed that these are two single-nave churches with a square plan, with a baptistery and a memoria beside them on the south side. The southern church ends in a projecting semicircular apse. The northern one has the same kind of apse, but reinforced with buttresses that fan out radially. In both buildings the benches for the clergy and the bases of the altar screens, ciboria and altars remained. A large number of fragments of stone church furnishings and architectural sculpture were found. On the basis of these remains the construction and furnishings were dated to the second half of the 5th and the first half of the 6th century.
The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4201.
