On the hill of Hum, southwest of Vrbanj on the island of Hvar, in the municipality of Stari Grad, lie the remains of the little church of St Vitus. For those interested in the early Middle Ages it offers an insight into a modest building from the time before the Romanesque.
Stylistically it belongs to pre-Romanesque architecture. It was a small single-nave church with a rectangular ground plan and a semicircular apse. Its long walls had three blind arcades each on the inside. It was built of regular ashlar in regular courses. The south long wall is now demolished to a height of roughly half a metre, and the north one as far as the arches of the niches.
The remains are a protected cultural good from the 11th century, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5158. They are located in Split-Dalmatia County.
