Church of St Apollonia, Vrisnik

The church of St Apollonia stands at the end of the village of Vrisnik, in the municipality of Jelsa, in Split-Dalmatia County. It is first mentioned in 1603. It is interesting as an example of late folk Baroque that carries within it memories of the Gothic.

It was renovated in 1769, when it received Baroque forms, and again in 1900. Today its condition is dilapidated. The nave, with a rectangular ground plan, has its wider side facing the main façade and is covered with a groin vault, and beside it is a square apse. The church is correctly oriented and built of hewn stone blocks that lean along their whole length on the living rock.

The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6414.
