In Kaštel Novi, in the town of Kaštela in Split-Dalmatia County, stands the church of St George of Žestinj, also known as the church of Miran, with the surrounding cemetery. For visitors it is a chance to see the remains of a medieval settlement beneath the hill of Trećanica.
The church was the parish church of a village mentioned in sources from the 12th century as Miran, and later as Žestinj. It is single-nave, with a rectangular apse, and covered with stone slabs. On the façade is a door with two rectangular windows on each side. The lintel with a leaf and cross motif has early Romanesque features, and so points to a Romanesque origin, although the appearance of the church has changed considerably over time. Around it is a cemetery from the late Middle Ages and early modern period, from the 14th to the 16th century, with massive stone slabs.
The church with its cemetery is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6898.
