In Kaštel Stari, in the town of Kaštela, lies the Fuležina fountain with its associated aqueduct. It is an interesting place for those who want to understand how water shaped life in the Kaštela settlements.
The fountain was created in honour of Emperor Franz Joseph's visit to Kaštela in April 1875. It acquired its present form in 1938 during renovation. An underground channel connects it with the aqueduct, which extends a little further south, all the way to the northern ramparts of the old part of the village. The aqueduct is made of regularly hewn stone blocks arranged on arches with a uniform gradient, and in places it runs through the ground. From the manner of construction and the position of later buildings, which follow its line, it is assumed to have been built in the 18th century. The water of the Fuležina stream strongly influenced the economy and everyday life of the inhabitants.
The fountain and aqueduct are a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6867.
