In Kaštel Lukšić, in the town of Kaštela in Split-Dalmatia County, stands the Old Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A walk along the sea makes it easy to visit this modest little church with Gothic and Renaissance features.
According to the inscription on the lintel of the main door, the church was built in the first half of the 16th century, commissioned by the brothers Jerolim and Nikola Vitturi. The ground plan is rectangular, and the axis runs from east to west, with a square apse on the east side. Chapels are attached to the north and south. The façade is simple: in the middle is a door with a plain frame, above it a Gothic pointed-arch lunette, and at the sides low rectangular windows. In the gable is a rosette in which Gothic and Renaissance mix, and the top of the façade is a bell gable.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3253.
