On the Glavica peninsula in Bol, on the southern side of the island of Brač, rises the Dominican monastery of St Mary of Mercy with its church. Visitors can see here, by the sea, a complex that has been part of Bol's history for more than five centuries.
The monastery was founded around the middle of the 15th century on a site where a late antique fortress and a building of the Diocese of Hvar had previously stood. The church has two aisles, and at the end of the 16th century it was renovated, when the bell tower was also built, the work of builders from the Bokanić family. On the south side, towards the large garden, extends the two-storey monastery building. Beside it is an inner courtyard, and one of its wings has a portico.
The complex is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4774. The period of its origin spans the 15th and 16th centuries.
