Villa Rustica Archaeological Site, Bol

West of Bol, on the famous Zlatni rat, a Roman farm villa, a villa rustica, once stood. The site is of interest to those who, besides the beach, want to see traces of ancient life on the island. It is located in the municipality of Bol, in Split-Dalmatia County.

What remains of the villa is a rectangular water cistern, measuring roughly 6.35 by 3.10 metres and three metres deep. The walls are about 60 centimetres thick and made of smaller regularly dressed stone, and at the bottom of large rough blocks. Inside, the cistern is coated with a thick layer of hydraulic mortar, and it was covered by a barrel vault, of which a supporting arch survived until recently. The other walls of the complex are mostly destroyed. Nearby lies a pile of stones with fragments of Roman pottery and part of the lid of a stone vessel. During the construction of the road to Murvica several Roman graves were found, probably of the villa's inhabitants.

The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4633.
