Podsused is a Zagreb district on the western edge of the city, and its centre around Podsusedski trg has preserved a pleasant, mostly low and uniform appearance. Visitors can see here a historic core leaning against the Susedgrad complex and its foot. The area belongs to the City of Zagreb.
The protected entity also includes the site of the medieval chapel of St Martin, built at a strategically important point that was already used in antiquity. The historical development of the area can be traced from the 13th to the 19th century. Typical are single-storey houses with a sloping roof whose ridge runs parallel to the street, with simple façades and spacious courtyards. Such an arrangement forms a harmonious whole that is still easily recognisable in the space today. The entire area is worth the attention of those who like to stroll through old settlements.
Podsused is a cultural-historical entity, a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1529.
