Novakova street in Zagreb is interesting to lovers of modern architecture because a whole series of villas arose in a short period and forms a harmonious whole. The ensemble is located in the City of Zagreb and consists of three family houses and seventeen rental apartment buildings.
It was built gradually, from 1931 to 1941, and the authors of individual buildings differed. Nevertheless, all the houses have clear geometric forms and common functional and design elements. The size and arrangement of the buildings were planned so that on each plot there remained space for landscaped gardens. This continues the custom of living in a family house from the 19th century, but in the language of modern architecture.
The street is considered a monument of modern architecture and urbanism and a valuable example of a completed urban setting. As a cultural-historical entity it is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1544.
