The SUZOR Palace is one of the more conspicuous buildings in the lower-town centre of Zagreb. It was built at the corner of Mihanovićeva street and Grgura Ninskog street, and it is of interest to visitors who love interwar architecture and richly decorated interiors. It is located in the City of Zagreb.
The building was designed between 1925 and 1928 by architect Rudolf Lubynski for the Central Office for Workers' Insurance. The exterior is shaped in a restrained historicist idiom with a classicist tone, and the size of the building gives it a monumental impression. As a free-standing block on the southern park of the Green Horseshoe, it stands opposite the Esplanade Hotel and fits harmoniously among the surrounding historicist and Secession buildings. Inside, carefully chosen Art Deco details draw attention. The steam bath stands out in particular, decorated with large-scale reliefs and sculptural forms made of glazed ceramics. They were made in 1926 and 1927 by Hinko Juhn, and this ensemble is regarded as his most extensive public work.
The palace is a protected cultural good and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6961.
