Bačvice Coastal Strip, Split

Bačvice is Split's favourite bathing spot, and the protected coastal strip comprises several coves in succession, from Zenta cove through Firule and Ovčice to the Bačvice beach itself. It is interesting to visitors as a part of the city where sport, recreation and summer entertainment take place by the sea.

The area stretches along the coast: in the west it is bounded by the railway behind the western shore of Bačvice, in the east by Spinčićeva street and Put Zente, and in the north by the Preradović promenade and Put Firula. In the eastern part is the swimming pool of the POŠK sports club. Unlike the northern side of Put Firula, where detached and semi-detached family houses line up, housing is not the main purpose here. Public facilities predominate: tennis courts, a swimming pool and cultural and entertainment venues, among them the Bačvice summer cinema. The ancillary buildings do not spoil the landscape and fit harmoniously into the setting of the coves.

This cultural-historical entity is a protected cultural good and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5707.
