In the southwest corner of the Peristyle, the main square of Diocletian's Palace in Split, stands the Skočibučić-Lukaris Palace. It is interesting to visitors because in a small space it reveals several centuries of building, from Romanesque houses to a Gothic portal. It is located in the municipality of Split, in Split-Dalmatia County.
The main façade faces the western colonnade, and the complex comprises several Romanesque houses extending towards the baptistery and the Vestibule. On the north side the remains of mullioned windows and a Romanesque cornice dividing the floors have been preserved, and a large Gothic portal stands out. Above it is a lunette with a coat of arms bearing the figure of an ox. In the 15th century the Skočibučić family renovated the building around an inner courtyard with a Gothic loggia. On the north wall you can see fragments of frescoes with geometric decoration and medallions.
The palace bears witness to how building took place on the site of the former imperial square, in the Middle Ages, when the seats of church and secular authority stood on the Peristyle. It is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5841.
