Hospital Building Complex, Bjelovar

The hospital building complex is located in Bjelovar, at 8 Antuna Mihanovića Street, northeast of the town square, outside the regular scheme of city blocks. It is of interest to visitors drawn to the urban and medical history of the town.

The complex consists of three buildings facing Mihanovićeva Street: the Surgical Pavilion, the Internal Medicine building and Villa Marija. The oldest is the Internal Medicine department, built in 1845 as a military hospital. The Surgical department was built in 1924 to a design by Ignac Fišer, and Villa Marija in 1928 as a private sanatorium. The buildings form a complete architectural whole enriched by park and garden forms and represent an important architectural and urban accent of the town.

The complex is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2921. It is located in Bjelovar-Bilogora County.
