The Church of St George occupies an isolated position on a hill at the foot of Medvednica and dominates the landscape around Planina. It is enclosed by a wall, and a cemetery extends on its northeast side. The place is first mentioned in sources in 1209. In the 13th century it belonged to the Crusaders of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a medieval order, which in the first half of that century built a chapel of St George here.
The building has a single nave, a square sanctuary, a bell tower in front of the western façade and a sacristy on the south side of the sanctuary. The massive walls of the nave and the vestibule and the profiled Gothic stone frame of the entrance door date from the Middle Ages. The sanctuary is lower and narrower than the nave, and above it is a domed vault with painting made in the 19th century.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-717.
