The Church of St Michael in Donji Vugrovec, in the City of Zagreb, stands on a hill above the settlement and is surrounded by a cemetery. From this position it dominates the surrounding landscape, so it is a good destination for visitors looking for a quieter area near the capital.
Vugrovec appears in historical sources as an episcopal estate in 1201, and the parish of St Michael is first mentioned in 1343. The church was the parish church from the founding of the parish, at the beginning of the 14th century, until 1803, when that role was taken over by the Church of St Francis Xavier in the centre of the settlement. The present church is single-nave, without a sacristy, with a polygonal sanctuary to the east and a square bell tower in front of the main façade. It is built of stone.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1479, and belongs to sacred architectural heritage.
