In the settlement of Donji Stupnik, in the municipality of the same name in Zagreb County, on a slightly raised plateau by a crossroads of historic routes, stands the Chapel of St Benedict. It is of interest to visitors as part of the settlement's landscape, because its position makes it prominent in the surrounding views.
In 1650 there was a wooden chapel at this spot, which was replaced by a masonry one, built in 1696, that is, at the end of the 17th century. The building lies in an east-west direction. It was once enclosed by a cemetery wall (cinctor), and today it is surrounded by an unsuitable wall.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2910, in the category of sacred architectural heritage. The period of its construction and alterations spans the 17th to the 19th century.
