The Church of St George with the remains of an ancient villa rustica is located in Baćina, in the town of Ploče in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. It lies in Zavod, the western part of the settlement, in the middle of the field, and is of interest because at the same place it links the ancient and medieval periods.
The church was built on the remains of an ancient country villa from the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd century. As the seat of the medieval parish of Baćina it is first mentioned in the 14th century. It received its present appearance in the 19th century: it is a single-nave building with a square apse, oriented east-west, and above the western façade rises a three-part bell gable. A large cemetery extends around the church, within which rare remains of the former ancient complex have been preserved, for example a torcular (press) with a cross later carved into it.
The church is a protected cultural good and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6030. It belongs to sacred architectural heritage.
