The Church of St George stands in the centre of Odra, a rural settlement in Turopolje, within the City of Zagreb. A visitor exploring the surroundings of the capital will find in it a quiet Baroque sanctuary that is several centuries old.
The parish of St George in Odra is first mentioned in 1331, and then in the list of parishes of the Zagreb Diocese from 1334. The church on its present site is described in canonical visitations from the beginning of the 17th century as a smaller building with a vaulted sanctuary, a nave under a wooden ceiling and a bell tower in front of the main entrance. The Baroque church, which has survived to the present day in its basic form, was built gradually, from 1749 to 1780.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-716. It belongs to sacred architectural heritage from the period from the 14th to the 18th century.
