Premužić Trail, Krasno Polje, Velebit

The Premužić Trail is a 57-kilometre hiking path that links the peaks of northern and central Velebit and runs through its most attractive areas. It begins in Northern Velebit National Park and, after Zavižan, crosses the Hajdučki and Rožanski Kukovi strict nature reserve. It then enters Velebit Nature Park via Alan and descends to Baške Oštarije.

Along its whole length it keeps to almost the same altitude, about 1,500 metres above sea level. It is named after Ante Premužić, an employee of the forestry directorate in Sušak, who designed the route, organised the construction and took part in the work himself. It was built from 1930 to 1933, and the work was carried out by labourers from the villages at the foot of Velebit.

The trail is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4203.
