Remains of a Modern-Era Shipwreck near Lučice Bay, Milna

Near Lučice Bay, on the south-western coast of the island of Brač, in the municipality of Milna, lie the remains of the iron wreck of a sunken steamship. It is an underwater archaeological site that will interest divers and lovers of maritime history, and numerous small objects from its equipment also bear witness to the steamship.

Given the size of the site and the abundance of small ship's material, the wreck is an important source for studying the equipment of 19th-century steamships. The steamship itself has features important for evaluating and studying the typological and structural elements of steamships in general.

The wreck is not dated in the Register, but it is a modern-era shipwreck. The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6816. It is located in Split-Dalmatia County and belongs to the archaeological heritage.
