The Zagreb Fair is located on the right bank of the Sava, in the City of Zagreb, and it is of interest not only to those who come for trade fair events. The whole ensemble is an example of mid-20th-century urban planning, and so it is of interest to lovers of architecture.
The move of the Fair to the area across the Sava began at the start of the 1950s. The first urban planning concept was devised by the architect Marijan Haberle, and the first fair event was held in September 1956. Immediately after the first phase, a competition was announced for further development, in which Božidar Rašica proposed a solution that actively integrates the Fair into the urban space across the Sava. His proposal also made it possible for a larger number of fair buildings to be used outside the fair dates. According to the assessment in the Register, the urban matrix of the Fair is exceptionally valuable, and a series of successful architectural achievements arose within it.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2951, with a note on the period of 1951.
