The Jadrija lighthouse stands at the entrance to the port of Šibenik, in Šibenik-Knin County, and is one of the protected maritime lighthouses on our coast. Visitors who love the sea and maritime heritage will see here a building that for decades guarded the shipping channel to the town.
The building was erected in 1871 on the former islet of St Andrew, a name connected with a small church whose foundations lie near the lighthouse. It consists of two parts: the original, with an L-shaped plan, and a rectangular added wing that turned the plan into an incomplete letter U. The original part is built of regularly dressed stone blocks. From the middle of the south-eastern façade rises an octagonal tower with three levels. It ends in a stone base with a profiled cornice and a metal lantern with a light, which rises slightly above the roof of the building.
Jadrija Maritime Lighthouse is a protected cultural property and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3538. It belongs to the secular architectural heritage of the 19th and 20th centuries.
